Throughout this project I have learned and changed my thoughts quite a bit on the issue of animal experimentation for the use of medicine. My thinking has started to feel bad for animals while still seeing all the benifits brought to us from animal testing. I started out being all for it and thought that it was all a very good idea and that it all was fair and good for us. I still think that but along the way of researching I think that the animals could be treated a lot better, some get treated well, some get treated like shit. During this project I have struggled to get all things in on time and it has obviously showed me I need to step it up and not fall behind. I think that the completion of this has made me realize that staying on time, coming to class, and making homework a proirilty will help. I think that in the future I will learn from this and use my time more wisely and meet deadlines. After high school is over I will be going to Stout, I hope that I am prepared enough although I am very uncertain. I feel a bit lost when it comes to English class and struggle when it comes to writing, which I hear is huge to be good at in college. My school experience has taught me to finish well! I need to learn from my mistakes from high school and not make the same in college because I have to pay for those classes and I don’t want anything to go to waste. I haven’t taken much responsible for learning in all honesty; I wish I wouldn’t have gone through this project with a half ass attitude toward it. The most difficult parts of this project were the specific criteria that I had to meet, like citations, research specifications, and other small things to do with bibliographies. I really didn’t like a lot of this project, the blogging, the citing, and the bibliography. Overall though I think that it was a good warm up for college.
In the article Animal Righs by Marcia Clemmit there is both points of view for view for each side of this ongoig issue. There is no doubt that many of animals helped this world get to where we are now. Within the last 40 nobel prizes awarded, 32 were for something that included animal research.
I agree with this article and I agree with the protection of some animals and that the hottest debates are with farm animals and that there needs to be something done there.
There are many good points I will use in this article on my blog.

This article is about Iowa passing a law that in a way protects people from going on to farms and video taping. It has a point of view as animal righs activists that have forced a recall of 143 million pounds of beef from a California slaughterhouse after the Humane Society of the United States surreptitiously videotaped workers there applying electric shocks to cows too sik to walk and using forklifts to move them. The intent was to shild farms that abuse animals from public scrutiny.
I think this article is way too extreme, even though I dont think that animals should be treated like that but its just a law, its not like there werent already laws about trespassing the animal rights activists have been trespassing and breaking laws for years, just to get animal farms caught. So both sides are breaking laws.
This article will help me explain my point of view as kind of a middle man because it has both things I agree with and things that I don't.

This video grabs my attention and points out all the thing that PETA (people for ethical treatment of animals) thinks are bad about animal testing. It takes all the common arguements they argue and gives answeres for them.
I agree with all this stuff and I really like how blunt it is, and it kept my attention and was actually interesting.
I think this will be a great video to use on my project because it grabbed my attention and got the points across very simply.

This video basicall sums up a bunch of statistics supporting animal testing for medicine. It says how many benefits animal testing has and how many things we have gained because of it. It isnt the most attention drawing video because it is just a guy presenting a powerpoing in an annoying accent.
I agree with alot of this stuff in the video but I think it is pretty boring and just gets information out to the audience.
This will help me because it has lots of statistics in which I can use in my paper. That is something that I havent found very much of in my research.

Imagine sixty to one hundred million animals going through physical and mental pain each year only to be killed in research projects. Animal testing isn't something new but it sure isn't something you hear about on your everyday news station. In the article Animal Rights by Marc Leepson, he states that there are many alternitives to animal testing without sacrificing experiments and results.
I don't really agree with this article at all, animal testing in my opinion is very important, we need all of that to get where we are today in the medical world, "survival of the fittest"
This will give me something to disagree with and argue against and post opinions on.

This article states that, "Animal cruelty is defined as inflicting suffering or harm upon animals for purposes other than self defense". It also claims that activities such as horce racing, dogfighting, and circuses cause more animals to suffer needlessly in the name of entertainment. Pretty much this article is strongly against all kinds of animaly entertainment and cruelty.
This article is too extreme for me as well I think horse racing is ok and other sporting events with dogs, I dont agree with do fighting or that in some sports with animals the animals get treated aweful. Thats not ok to abuse them.
This will help me because it has examples of things a lot of people things that animal rights activists think is wrong, this will give me examples to reflect on what I think is ok and what I do not think is ok.

This article says that animal experimentation is good and that is necessary in the medical world, it goes on to say alot about that animal rights activists overlooking alot of things that are important. This article rips on animal rights activists like PETA and such. It says that they are over protective and overlooking the benefits we get from animal experimentation in the medical field. It goes on to talk about how if we didnt use animals to test medicines on then we would be way way behind where we are today. There would no radiation theropy and there would be alot of different kinds medicine that we would have never aquired if we had never brought small rodents to be tested on.
This article is a good one it shows that medical testing on animals is a good thing for the medical world. It will allow me to have valid points and facts on the different kinds of advanced medicines that we would not have if it werent for animals.
This is definitly helpful in my research, and I will use this also, I agree with almost everything in this article

The film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was a movie about humans trying to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. They used apes to test different kinds of medicines on them and eventually it worked on one ape. The ape got shot, but it had a baby and they managed to save it, his name was Caesar, he grew smarter and smarter because of the drug he had that was the cure for Alzheimer’s and it was in his blood. He saw and figured that the apes weren’t being treated like the humans, he saw that they weren’t being treated equally. He ran away got apes together and turned against the humans.
I think that this movie was a good movie. It definitely got the point across that the apes were being treated badly. It showed a point of unfairness between humans and animals and it tried to get you to feel bad for the apes. The movie wanted to show us that us humans used or abused the apes for our benefit. But this movie also showed another point in my eyes I think it showed that animal research and testing for medicine can be extremely beneficial. In the movie, we found the cure for Alzheimer’s. That is HUGE!! Anyone who says that animal testing for medicine is a waste, in my eyes, should look at everything we have accomplished because of it, and how much more things don’t have cures.
This will be a great thing to use on my subject because of the success of animal testing. The movie will be very beneficial to my topic and I plan on using it in my research.
